Kancilbelik.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A gong chime consisting of two parallel rows of horizontally resting bronze gongs with turned-back rims and raised central bosses, which are struck with a pair of thinly padded stick beaters held in the hands of the performer.\u00a0<em>Bonang barung<\/em>\u00a0have 10 or 12 gongs (for\u00a0<em>gamelan<\/em>\u00a0<em>sl\u00e9ndro<\/em>) or 14 gongs (for\u00a0<em>gamelan p\u00e9log<\/em>) on a bed-like frame. The gongs in one row have a higher profile (called\u00a0<em>jaler<\/em>, or male) than the gongs in the other row (called\u00a0<em>setren<\/em>, or female) and are tuned an octave higher.
