The presentation of distinctive local identities to tourists in the form of packaged cultural shows that draw upon traditional performing arts is a widespread phenomenon in our globalizing world. This open-source website has been designed to provide users with a space in which this phenomenon can be explored and contemplated. At the core of the site are ten short films that document and contextualize cultural shows–referred to here as “encounter performances”–experienced by Roger Vetter, the author of the site.
This site is comprised of context and media pages. Please use the menus at the top and on the right side of each page or the “previous” and “next” links at the bottom of pages to navigate the site.
